LIKE other natural hazards, earthquakes tend to expose the many countries with showing them at their weakest. Widespread damage to buildings, roads and other infrastructure, extensive loss of life and the struggle to restore a semblance of normal all combine to stretch the ingenuity of even the most capable countries to extremes.
However, the recent earthquake in Eastern Turkey, in the province of Van, near the border with Iran, has painted a different picture of the country, clearly demonstrates the Government of Turkey

A magnitude 7.2 earthquake Van reaches the Richter scale and had caused the deaths of more than a thousand and hundreds of injuries, in addition to the collapse of about 970 of the building. The cities of Van and Eric was deeply affected. To make matters worse, the region has suffered more than 100 strong aftershock which has hampered rescue efforts.
